Job Title: Armed Security Guard (Patrol Officer)

Location:  Newport Beach/Costa Mesa

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $20-22 an hour

Schedule: Fri 5pm-1am AND Sat-Tues 10pm-6am

Job Summary: The Armed Security Guard will be responsible for protecting the property, personnel, and assets of Star Pro Security Patrol, Inc. This role requires patrolling assigned areas, monitoring for suspicious activities, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate will have experience in security or law enforcement, possess a strong sense of duty, and be capable of handling emergency situations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Duties:

  • Conduct routine patrols of assigned areas on foot and/or in a security vehicle.
  • Monitor for unauthorized activities, suspicious behavior, and potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure all entrances, exits, and access points are secure.

• Incident Response:

  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, including thefts, disturbances, and safety hazards.
  • Provide a visible deterrent to criminal activities and ensure quick response times to incidents.
  • Intervene in conflicts and take appropriate action, which may include detaining individuals until law enforcement arrives.

• Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed logs of patrol activities, incidents, and observations made during shifts.
  • Prepare and submit accurate incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.

• Safety and Security:

  • Conduct regular inspections of security equipment, including communication devices, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems.
  • Assist in implementing and enforcing security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety drills and training sessions to stay updated on security protocols.

• Public Interaction:

  • Build positive relationships with clients, employees, and visitors by providing assistance and information as needed.
  • Serve as a professional representative of the security company, ensuring a positive image is maintained.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in criminal justice or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military service required.

• Certifications and Training:

  • Valid state-issued security guard license with firearm endorsement.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Completion of a state-approved training program for armed security guards.

• Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in the use of security equipment and firearms.

• Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Work Environment: This position involves patrolling assigned areas, including both indoor and outdoor environments, and may require working in various weather conditions. The role demands vigilance, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to interact positively with a diverse range of people.
