As a full-time Heavy Vehicle Test Driver, you will operate a variety of heavy vehicles and trucks for testing and validation purposes, accumulating miles, and providing valuable feedback to engineering teams developing the next generation of heavy trucks. This position is based locally in Fairbanks, allowing you to return home daily, and offers a competitive pay rate that acknowledges your experience, dedication to safety, and commitment to excellence.

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Drive various heavy vehicles following specific protocols to gather accurate data for analysis.
  • Drive designated routes documenting performance, feedback, and metrics.
  • Flexibility to work either the 1st or 2nd shift (overnights) depending on testing needs.

 

Our ideal candidate will be someone who has at least some of the following characteristics:

 

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED as well as a CDL Class A are required. Passenger endorsement and lowboy experience are a plus.
  • Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, demonstrated by a clean driving record and minimum of 3 years of driving experience operating Class 6 and Class 8 heavy vehicle with manual transmissions
  • Ability to travel, as needed, to specific states for specialized tests or vehicle transportation as well as internationally (possession of a valid passport is highly desired)
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow strict protocols to ensure accurate testing results
  • Passion for the automotive & testing industry who would enjoy working alongside the largest automotive companies in the world

 

Preference will be given to local Fairbanks candidates who can demonstrate they understand the unique safety challenges posed by the weather and operating conditions in Fairbanks during winter.

 

Other important considerations include:

 

  • Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to be drug-free and pass DOT drug screening prior to employment
  • Prolonged routine sitting for 8 or more hours with the requirement to lift at least 25 lbs.
