Position Summary The Chrysler Service Advisor initiates automotive services and repairs by determining performance problems and services requested; verifying warranty and service contract coverage; developing estimates; writing repair orders; maintaining customer rapport and records.
This position is not 'remote work' capable and requires punctual, consistent, and regular attendance for all scheduled shifts. Missed work affects the day-to-day operations of the company. This in turn negatively impacts fellow employees through lowered morale and / or lost income opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities Job duties for the Chrysler Service Advisor include but are not limited to:
- Acts as a goodwill ambassador for the dealership by promoting professionalism and displaying excellent customer satisfaction skills.
- Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules.
- Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions.
- Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.
- Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and service requirements; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
- Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
- Updates job knowledge of all factory warranties, by all manufacturer's, and policies per manufacturer for proper claim payment.
- Maintains product knowledge of assigned manufacture and continues education on all manufacturers represented by Don "K".
- Responsible for the proper check out and check in of loaner vehicles for customers.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner following all company safety guidelines and policies.
- Performs other duties as requested or required.
Qualifications Two years in a dealership service environment. Good communication skills, negotiating skills, multi-tasking skills and computer skills a must. High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Extended working hours may be required, which may include working at nighttime or weekends. Weather conditions may vary depending on the season. Must be able to move about the complex in all weather conditions and be able to enter and exit most types of vehicles.
