The City offers unique opportunities for students to gain hands-on and in-depth experience in a variety of disciplines related to local, regional, state, and federal government operations. We provide real world work assignments, which provide interns the opportunity to work side-by-side with professional City staff committed to teamwork and providing superior municipal services to the community of Santa Clarita. Salary:

  • 19.31 - $24.46/hour (Undergrad Level)
  • 25.77 - $30.92/hour (Graduate Level)
Please note that this is not a summer internship. This position is expected to work an average of 20-30 hours per week. The anticipated duration of this internship is approximately 6 to 12 months, but may end earlier or be extended depending on department needs. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Converts departmental creative marketing ideas to digital email campaigns
  • Uses HTML and CSS to customize and update email campaigns and related webpages
  • Uses Photoshop and similar Adobe Suite applications to customize campaign graphics for email, websites, and social media
  • Creates online surveys and forms
  • Manages calendar events using an online community calendar
  • Works with Google Analytics associated with email campaigns
  • Provides administrative support, as needed
Education and Experience If you are a current or recent undergraduate or graduate student studying Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field and are interested in gaining meaningful, hands-on work experience at the local government level, this may be the program for you. Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a team
  • Proficient in research techniques, survey methods, data collection, and analysis
  • Excellent customer service and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and be sensitive to deadlines and changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the public
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • HTML, CSS, WordPress, and/or graphic design experience is a desired
  • Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and documents weighing up to 25 pounds
