We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon./ph3Job Summary/h3pAs a Concrete Finisher at Whitaker Construction, you will play a vital role in our construction projects by ensuring that concrete surfaces are expertly finished to meet our high-quality standards. Your primary responsibilities will include setting forms, spreading and smoothing concrete, monitoring curing processes, and directing casting activities. You will collaborate closely with our construction team to deliver exceptional results while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining efficient workflow. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of concrete finishing experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety. If you are skilled, detail-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to join our team and contribute to the success of our projects./ph3Core Responsibilities/h3ulliSet forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them./liliCheck the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed./liliSpread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float./liliMonitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process./liliDirect the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or specialty tools./liliProduce rough concrete surface, using broom./liliMold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, or straightedge./liliSignal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and moving chute, to direct concrete into forms./liliApply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete./liliOperate power vibrator to compact concrete./liliChip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete./liliCut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete./liliWaterproof or restore concrete surfaces, using appropriate compounds./liliWet concrete surface and rub with stone to smooth surface and obtain specified finish./liliWet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout, slurry, or epoxy./liliDirect subgrade work, mixing concrete, and setting forms for beams, columns, and panels./liliMix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine./liliPerform clean-up in connection with the work./liliComply with all safety policies, procedures, and standards of safety./liliAssist Construction Laborers with labor duties./liliOther duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors./li/ulh3Requirements and Qualifications/h3ulliHigh School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired./liliThose with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.)./liliA minimum of 3 years of concrete finishing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience./liliDisplay a willing attitude to learn from others./liliPossess a strong sense of personal responsibility./liliFocus to work safely in close proximity to equipment, co-workers, and surroundings./liliExcellent written and verbal communication skills./liliAbility to work effectively in a team environment./liliValid drivers license and reliable transportation to get to and from work./li/ulh3Physical Requirements/h3ulliAble and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours./liliAble to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently./liliAble to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards./liliAbility to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks./li/ulh3Benefits/h3ulliEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
