Orthodontic Dental Assistant Job Description

We are searching for a passionate and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team!

In this role, you will play a vital role in assisting the orthodontist in providing exceptional care to our patients. You will be responsible for chairside support, patient education, and ensuring the smooth operation of the orthodontic practice.

Responsibilities:

Chairside Assistance: Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations, consultations, and treatment procedures.

Prepare treatment areas, sterilize instruments, and ensure a clean and organized environment.

Help with the application and removal of braces, retainers, and other orthodontic appliances.

Take x-rays and intraoral photographs (depending on training and regulations).

Patient Care: Greet patients warmly and create a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Provide chairside comfort and support to patients during treatment.

Educate patients on proper oral hygiene habits while undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Explain post-treatment care instructions and answer any patient questions.

Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments, update patient records, and maintain accurate treatment charts.

Manage inventory of orthodontic supplies and equipment.

Prepare insurance forms and assist with billing procedures.

Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.

Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Dental Assistant certification (preferred) or experience in a dental setting.

Experience in orthodontics a plus.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in dental software and digital technology (preferred).

Patient and compassionate demeanor with a passion for oral healthcare.

Ability to handle fast-paced environment and multiple tasks simultaneously.
