Job Title: SolidWorks Designer/Drafter

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SolidWorks Designer/Drafter with at least 3 years of experience to support the design and development of sensors and robotic systems used in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with mechanical products, particularly in designing handheld-sized, fairly complex systems. This role will focus on generating high-quality technical drawings and 3D models for products primarily made from aluminum. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers to ensure the accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability of each design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings of NDT sensors and robots using SolidWorks.
  • Design components primarily made from aluminum, ensuring the designs meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to refine product specifications and address technical challenges.
  • Prepare drawings for manufacturing, including tolerances, material specifications, and assembly instructions.
  • Review and revise designs to incorporate feedback and optimize product performance.
  • Maintain design documentation and version control, ensuring accurate records of product iterations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience using SolidWorks to design mechanical products, ideally in handheld, complex systems.
  • Proficient in generating 3D models, assemblies, and 2D technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of materials, particularly aluminum, and their properties for product design.
  • Experience designing products for manufacturing (DFM) and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of tolerances, GD&T, and drawing standards.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and translate design concepts into manufacturable solutions.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Designing/Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
