A law firm in Worcester, MA, is seeking an Estate Planning/Elder Law Attorney with extensive experience and expertise in handling the estate planning and elder law domains. The ideal candidate will oversee the entire estate planning and trust/estate administration process, managing client relationships, drafting complex estate plans, and addressing various legal matters in compliance with Massachusetts laws. Duties: Handle and oversee the estate planning and trust/estate administration process from initiation to conclusion. Conduct initial client intake meetings encompassing estate plans, Medicaid applications/eligibility, and postmortem estate/trust administration. Maintain ongoing communication and relationships with clients and other advisors involved in the planning/administration process. Draft intricate estate plans, including revocable, irrevocable, and testamentary trusts, as well as wills. Manage various types of trusts from inception to completion, such as spousal/marital trusts, special needs trusts, and irrevocable insurance trusts. Handle guardianship and conservatorship clients and associated legal proceedings. Develop Medicaid/MassHealth eligibility plans and complete MassHealth applications for long-term care and nursing home benefits. Navigate the relevant tax landscape, including income, estate, and gift tax matters. Requirements: 5+ years of relevant practice experience in estate planning and elder law. License to practice law in Massachusetts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail, including proficiency in drafting and proofreading legal documents. Comfortable supervising and delegating tasks to paralegals and administrative staff. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision while also collaborating with staff members when necessary. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and complete multiple time-sensitive projects. Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications: Bar admission to practice law in Massachusetts. Skills: Proficiency in estate planning, elder law, and trust/estate administration. Thorough understanding of Massachusetts estate planning and Medicaid laws. Knowledge of tax regulations, including income, estate, and gift taxes. Strong client relationship management skills. Legal document drafting and review expertise.
