GIS Specialist

We are seeking an experienced GIS Specialist to develop and maintain our Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In this role, you will gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data, determining the best way to display information using GIS. You will write and update documentation, prepare and publish GIS maps for various departments, present information to users, and answer questions.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain quality control standards for the GIS database, ensuring compliance with those standards.
• Prepare AutoCAD drawings that match engineering specifications, understanding the dimensions and elements of the designs.
• Stay current with new GIS information and technology.
• Operate and maintain plotters and related GIS equipment, ordering supplies as needed.
• Willingness to travel off-site within the service territory.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and skills.
• Experience writing scripts, programming, data management, and working with ESRI software suite, particularly ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of fiber facility data is preferred.
• Familiarity with principles and practices of GIS systems, data collection, databases, and mapping.
• Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL or Python, and experience with NISC is desirable.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and listening skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines.
