Position Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Location: Lafayette, Scott, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, LA

Pay Range: N/A

Salary Interval: Hourly

As an Equipment Operator at Siema Construction, you will play a pivotal role in our operations, exemplifying our core values and demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Lead by example, promote and portray company values, always look out for your safety and the safety of others, conduct business with integrity , strive for excellence in all aspects of the job, be motivated to succeed and improve skills, and hold self and others accountable for actions.
  • Proficiently operating and managing a variety of heavy equipment, including but not limited to compactors, excavators, loaders, backhoes, and articulated trucks.
  • Conducting daily equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and keeping accurate equipment logs.
  • Adhering to Operations and Maintenance Guides for our core and secondary heavy equipment.
  • Executing construction activities such as grading, excavation, pipe laying, and demolition, following site plans and grade stakes accurately.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members, ensuring clear communication and teamwork to optimize on-site construction activities.
  • Operating equipment in various weather conditions and busy environments while prioritizing safety at all times.
  • Demonstrating expertise in material consistency, compaction techniques, and specialized tasks like limestone and cement stabilization.

Position Requirements: Job Requirements:

  • Strong mathematical skills to perform necessary calculations for the job.
  • Basic understanding of construction equipment and processes.
  • Ability to follow guidelines and instructions for job functions.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy loads, perform tasks in diverse weather conditions, and handle prolonged periods of physical activity.

Education/Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment operation within the heavy highway construction industry.
  • Experience with Total Station/GPS and advanced layout techniques.
