Job Title: Home Health Aide (HHA)
Position Summary:
The Home Health Aide provides personal care, companionship, and assistance with daily living activities to patients in their homes under the supervision of a registered nurse or other healthcare professional. The HHA helps maintain the patient’s comfort, safety, and independence while supporting their physical and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
Provide basic health-related services, such as checking vital signs, monitoring symptoms, and reporting changes in condition to the supervising nurse.
Support meal preparation, feeding assistance, and ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
Perform light housekeeping tasks related to patient care, such as changing linens, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment.
Offer companionship and emotional support, helping reduce feelings of isolation.
Follow individualized care plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and patient observations.
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide training program or have at least one year of verifiable Home Health Aide experience.
Current certification as a Home Health Aide (preferred not required).
CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
Strong communication, compassion, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and follow care instructions.
Work Environment:
Home Health Aides typically work in patients’ private homes, assisted living facilities, or group homes. The role may involve travel between patients, flexible scheduling, and occasional evening or weekend shifts.
