LSF is seeking a talented House Coordinator who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Preferred candidate will be bilingual in English to Spanish and or English to Creole.

Purpose and Impact:

The House Coordinator is responsible for the direct supervision of all support staff and daily programming activities provided during the course of their assigned shift, ensuring that ratios are met at all times. This position plans, coordinates, and ensures that all youth living in their assigned group home are actively working towards the goals set in their service plan. The employee is expected to take an active role in the development and fostering of therapeutic relationships between youth and staff to provide for effective treatment. They will maintain a flexible, organized and efficient work schedule. This is a direct care position.

Essential Functions:

  • Complete monthly supervision and maintain appropriate documentation of staff under their direct supervision.
  • Complete annual performance appraisals of employees under their direct supervision.
  • Ensure the development of staff schedules and make decisions regarding personal leave requests, holiday leave requests, and/or sick leave requests submitted.
  • Address employee performance issues in a timely manner and maintain documentation of conversations using memos to the record/conference notes.
  • Conduct intake services including completion of necessary paperwork to provide youth with an overview of the program services for initial placements into the shelter.
  • Responsible for providing basic needs to youth upon arrival to the program including meal, clothing, hygiene products, shower and bedroom assignments.
  • Provide Direct Care Services to youth to ensure that ratios and appropriate supervision levels are continuously met as per state and federal requirements.
  • Develop positive rapport with youth while serving as a role model to create a safe and caring environment.
  • Ensure all forms and progress notes (efforts) are properly completed to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of special educational events, acculturation activities, and recreational outings, assist in the coordination of student activities and other meaningful experiences for LSF youth which promotes volunteerism and learning.
  • Checks visitors into the facility according to protocol; processes donations.
  • Receive sick calls from employees for incoming shifts and plan accordingly to ensure ratios are met.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with the Program Director or designee regarding all incidents

Other Functions

  • Attend all organizational required trainings as well as those that will enhance professional growth in the area of Education, Vocational Instruction, direct supervision, and other topics deemed appropriate by the program director or designee.
  • Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
  • Effectively and accurately assist in the distribution of medications to youth as prescribed by Medical Provider.
  • Ensure compliance with DCF and accreditation guidelines.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Travels as needed for trainings, conferences or to transport youth to destinations located within the Sponsor area.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and hazard-free facility. Tasks include regular maintenance and general cleaning of common areas including restrooms and kitchen, rotation of laundry (linen, towels and clothes) duty, and general maintenance of outdoor areas (to include but not limited to: backyard, playground, and parking lot).
  • Provides responsive, high quality customer service to regulatory, educational and compliance agencies, and members of the public.
  • Performs various administrative support activities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., seated or standing) for extended periods during administrative or monitoring tasks.
  • Frequent movement within the facility, including walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and transitioning between indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., supplies, small equipment, or food items).
  • Capacity to respond quickly in emergency or crisis situations, which may require rapid movement, physical guidance of youth, or brief physical exertion.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to observe behaviors, monitor safety conditions, and respond to alarms or verbal cues in a busy shelter environment.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for using office equipment, completing paperwork, and operating shelter systems (e.g., keys, security panels).
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, or holidays, as needed.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.

Experience:

2-3 years of experience working in the youth services field either through paid or unpaid positions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to travel locally, and out of the area, in the execution of professional duties, trainings and/or conferences.
  • Thorough knowledge of residential treatment programs for adolescents, and knowledge of assessment methods and individual and group meeting techniques.
  • Ability to operate a computer, sit for long periods of time, and develop coherent written correspondence and progress notes.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish skill may be a requirement depending upon program needs.
  • Certified First Aid/CPR, and crisis intervention per program needs.
  • Dependability, discretion and good judgment, ability to communicate effectively with clients, parents, co-workers, volunteers, governmental and other agencies and the general public.
