Job Summary:

The Internal Communication Specialist has primary responsibility for a) writing, editing and executing internal communication to OSU faculty, staff, current students and families among other audiences and b) providing support to the Public Information Officer as needed to keep university audiences safe and informed. Will utilize skills in digital marketing, content planning, prioritization, writing, editing and strategic communications to execute emails, text messages and other tactics with key internal stakeholders from faculty and staff to current students and their families. These efforts align with OSU's strategic marketing and communications plan which prioritizes recruitment, retention and reputation management. Must be proficient in AP style and have an understanding of connecting with various audiences through communications strategies and tactics. Position will require project management skills and use of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform to segment audiences and personalize messages. Will use some knowledge of HTML and email creation platforms. The individual should demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in finding new opportunities to showcase Oklahoma State University to our internal audiences. They will help us consider the messages and frequency appropriate to build brand affinity among those audiences and must meet deadlines for all communications initiatives. Will collaborate with and advise other university departments and units on internal communication initiatives. Will partner with the web development team to write and optimize content for internal facing websites and interfaces, as well as social media content targeted at internal audiences. This role will report to the Public Information Officer and will assist in developing messages in support of the safety of our community on campus and beyond. The internal communication specialist will build a regular reporting structure for internal communication efforts and will make recommendations and adjustments based on those analytics.

About our team: The Department of Brand Management oversees all representations of the Oklahoma State University brand. Our areas of expertise include media relations, crisis communications, internal/external messaging, branding, advertising, recruitment communications, visual media, digital strategy and more. This office aims to elevate Oklahoma State University's profile by showcasing programs, resources and expertise as well as garner recognition for its efforts within the state, nation and world.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, English or a related field.

Demonstrated work experience in content creation, editing, publishing and campaign implementation or planning.

Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to organize materials, write, edit, visualize concepts, communicate and interpret goals, including demonstrated proficiency in the use of AP style and adaptive writing. Project management experience required. Ability to work cross-functionally with supervisors, unit staff and campus partners to ensure collaborative environment, coordinated efforts and maximized outcomes. Must learn quickly and demonstrate flexibility in the work environment. Exhibit strong attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with different priorities and tight deadlines. Demonstrate creativity, integrity and passion for growing the brand of Oklahoma State University.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five plus years of successful experience in public relations and communications, website development and use of a Customer Relationship Management Platform.
