Job Description

Position: Assistant Geologist

We are currently seeking an Assistant Geologist to support a range of environmentally focused projects for government and private sector clients. This entry-level role will involve both field and office-based responsibilities including data collection, analysis, and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support field operations such as soil classification, air quality monitoring during site investigations and cleanups, groundwater well installation, and the collection of soil and water samples for lab testing.
  • Assist in analyzing environmental data related to soil and groundwater, contributing to the development of sampling plans and data summaries.
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals, environmental reports, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate fieldwork logistics, including scheduling subcontractors and participating in site remediation planning and execution.
  • Work with laboratories to ensure proper testing and analysis of environmental samples.
  • Participate in field inspections to monitor compliance with relevant environmental regulations and permits during construction and remediation activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
  • Internship or consulting experience in environmental site assessments (Phase I/II) and/or remediation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard geologic practices and environmental investigation protocols.
  • Working knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System, hydrogeological concepts, and glacial geology.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks including OSHA and CERCLA, as well as basic remedial design principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Analytical thinking with a detail-oriented and organized approach to tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and team collaboration skills.
  • Active involvement in campus or community organizations is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license is required; eligibility to operate a company vehicle under corporate safety guidelines is necessary.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred.
