Job Description: As a Junior Mechanical Designer at 120 Degreez, you will play an important role in supporting senior engineers in the design, drafting, and coordination of mechanical (HVAC) systems for a variety of building projects. This position offers an opportunity to develop your technical skills, gain hands-on experience, and grow within a collaborative and dynamic engineering environment.
Responsibilities: - Assist in the design and drafting of HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning layouts under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Perform basic load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layout preparation using standard software and firm design templates.
- Develop plans, sections, and details for mechanical systems in AutoCAD and Revit, ensuring accuracy and coordination with other disciplines.
- Collaborate with project teams to prepare comprehensive mechanical design packages, including drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Conduct site visits to collect field data, verify existing conditions, and support senior engineers during construction phases.
- Assist in the review of shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals to confirm compliance with design intent and applicable codes.
- Coordinate mechanical layouts with architectural, structural, and electrical teams to ensure smooth system integration and resolve design conflicts.
- Stay informed about the California Mechanical Code, Title 24, and sustainable design best practices to support the firms commitment to energy efficiency.
- Support internal process improvements, documentation updates, and quality standards for project deliverables.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by senior engineers or management.
Qualifications: - 12 years of experience in mechanical or HVAC design (internship or professional experience preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required; familiarity with load calculation tools a plus.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, Title 24 Energy Standards, and mechanical design principles.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the mechanical design field.
