Aurdal Lutheran Church is a multigenerational congregation nestled in the fertile Red River Valley of beautiful North Dakota with a rich 151-year heritage and around 50 people in worship each week. We are a member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and the Augustana District, seeking to be a place where faith and life connect. At the heart of our life together is a desire to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ and to share that joy with others. We place special emphasis on nurturing faith in the next generation. Sunday School meets September through May for children from Pre-K through 5th grade, and Confirmation instruction for 6th8th graders meets weekly on Wednesday afternoons during the school year. Beyond our congregation, we support local, national, and international Christian ministries. We also simply enjoy spending time together worshiping, learning, serving, and growing as the body of Christ.

About Our Position

This is a full-time pastoral call that includes preaching at all worship services and providing spiritual leadership to the congregation. The formal duties and responsibilities are outlined in the Aurdal Lutheran Church Constitution and Bylaws, but a summary of key responsibilities includes:

• Worship: Lead worship services, preside at the Lords Supper, and officiate at baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
• Pastoral Care: Provide regular visitation to members, shut-ins, visitors, or those in hospitals or crisis situations and offer spiritual care and counseling upon request.
• Congregational Leadership: Assist and advise the church council and committees and lead adult Bible study, prayer groups, support groups, seminars, retreats, and other congregational events.
• Administration: Supervise the office staff, assist with bulletins, newsletters, and other communications as needed, maintain regular office hours, and support mission and outreach opportunities.
• Youth Ministry: Promote Christian education and faith development for children and youth through Sunday School support, confirmation instruction, communion preparation, and youth activities.
• Other Duties: Carry out additional responsibilities as needed to support the ministry of the congregation.
