The work may require lifting security containers or other objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.Working ConditionsWork is performed normally inside but occasionally work is done outside in bad weather or in areas that are drafty and poorly lighted. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises and burns while using acetylene torches, brazing torches, and soldering irons. The incumbent is required to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to, coveralls, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, and safety shoes.The health status of personnel is monitored periodically using biologic and serologic tests and physical examinations.Restrictions against contact with birds and livestock outside the laboratory may apply after entering high security animal facilities that are working with disease agents foreign to the United States.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
