In a third-party logistics (3PL) environment, the Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, directing, and optimizing domestic and international transportation operations, including air freight, sea freight, truck dispatching, and multimodal transport. This position plays a leadership role in managing a logistics team, ensuring operational excellence, and achieving key performance targets.

The Logistics Supervisor will work closely with carriers, customs brokers, shipping lines, airlines, and clients to ensure timely, secure, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of goods. The role also involves supervising import/export documentation processes, monitoring shipment performance, resolving escalated logistics issues, and driving process improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency.

General Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, train, and supervise logistics specialists or coordinators to ensure efficient execution of transportation operations.
  • Set performance goals (KPIs) for the team, monitor progress, and conduct regular performance reviews.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee planning and arrangement of domestic and international transportation, including truck dispatching, air freight, sea freight, and multimodal solutions.
  • Approve carrier selection and transportation methods based on cost, service level, and cargo requirements.
  • Monitor operations through tracking platforms to ensure real-time visibility and timely deliveries.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation, verification, and submission of import/export documents (B/L, packing lists, invoices, AWB, etc.).
  • Oversee customs clearance activities to ensure compliance with trade regulations and destination country requirements.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as the escalation point for major logistics issues, delays, or customs problems, ensuring swift resolution.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers, suppliers, and brokers to address special requests and service challenges.

Cost & Process Optimization

  • Analyze transportation performance data and provide strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline logistics workflows and optimize routing.
  • Support budgeting, cost forecasting, and billing reconciliation for logistics operations.

Qualification:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field (Associate’s degree acceptable with strong experience).

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics or transportation operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role in a 3PL or international logistics environment.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in Mandarin; Intermediate or above in English (reading, writing, and business communication).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Strategic mindset with a service-oriented approach.

Skills:

  • Systems & Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); experience with TMS, WMS, or ERP systems preferred.

Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of international shipping terms and documents (Incoterms, HS Codes, B/L, AWB).
  • Solid knowledge of customs clearance procedures and international trade regulations.
  • Familiar with performance monitoring, cost control, and logistics process optimization.
