Job DescriptionThe Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for repair, troubleshooting & maintenance of test and assembly equipment in INFICON’s production and lab facilities along with the build and test of product as it transitions from engineering development to full-rate production. This individual will need to possess good problem-solving skills and be a detail-orientated individual who can work well with the production technicians and the Manufacturing Engineering and the Automation & Test Engineering teams.
Essential Job Duties
Specific duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
Support the production floor with repair and maintenance of existing production test equipment, including turbo molecular pumps, roughing pumps, high purity gas lines, leak valves, dosing valves, vacuum flanges & other components
Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical system components such as motors, variable AC drives, PLCs, field wiring and field sensors
Support the Manufacturing Engineering and& Automation & Test Engineering group by assembling and testing various fixtures and test systems during the build and validation process prior to the production implementation of the fixtures & systems
Work with our Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Automation & Test Engineering teams to learn how to build and test product in the Engineering Pilot phase of the New Product Development process
Provide input to the various Engineering teams on how to make INFICON product more manufacturable during the New Product Development process.
Assemble and/or test product in the Production Pilot phase of the New Product Development process and ensure a smooth transition to our production floor technicians in anticipation of future full-rate production
Work with the production floor and & the Manufacturing Engineering group on issues related to the production floor that tie back to the responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineering department, such as build & test procedures, fixtures and equipment
Work with the Manufacturing Engineering group on identifying and developing robust preventative maintenance processes for items on the production floor that currently lack the processes necessary for proper equipment health
Work to ensure both the internal & external customers are satisfied with the ream’s response in dealing with the inevitable issues that arise in a manufacturing organization
Work jointly on a near-daily basis with INFICON’s Production, & Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering and Automation Test Engineering departments

Education and/or Experience
Minimal requirement A.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Technology with 5+ years’ experience or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a production/manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to repair and maintain production manufacturing equipment
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team structure & environment
Experience in high cleanliness, tight tolerance, and high mix manufacturing environments is preferred
For New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $58k and $85k per year. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit sharing bonus with a target of 10%. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.
