Position Summary The Director of User Experience is responsible for ensuring the products/services deliver a meaningful, intuitive and engaging experience for the Customer. Focusing on the end user, the Director of User Experience works collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as product management, R&D and communications and serves as the advocate for the Customer. Through in-depth understanding of the clinical application and research, the inform the design process and ensure the end-product meets the needs of the target market. They need to have a deep understanding of the product, its features, and how users interact with it. This requires a thorough understanding of the business, its goals, and its target audience.
Duties Voice of Customer/Product Requirements (SPD & Endo Reprocessing)
-Leading product development ideation workshops in the exploratory phase
-Collaborate and validate Market Requirements Documentation to include strong, practical and relevant user needs and inclusion
-Oversee the collaboration with Product Management and R&D to provide insights into users' needs, behaviours, and preferences
-Organize Customer visits for R&D team education prior to development commencing
-Review design choices during all aspects of the development process
-Support the development of Customer guided instructions for UI design
-Working with Product Management and R&D to further refine/define voice of Customer feedback and drive inclusion into marketing requirements and product design
-Review uses cases for systems testing as part of the development phase
-Serve as resources to review reliability test plan.
Customer Persona/Needs
-Lead the development and implementation of a Customer Needs Design System Library that can be used to develop robust marketing requirements and product needs documents
-Develop/keep updated Customer personas to influence NPD, Customer Communication, Marketing Collateral & In-service Development
-Develop/keep updated templates/user flow-charts for each modality that encompasses the Customers workflow of the product from shipping, receiving, installation, use and maintenance
-Develop standard Customer journey maps in reprocessing
-Provides strategic future planning skills and visionary thinking all through the customer mindset
-Drive operational and executional excellence while leading creative thinking at scale across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices.
Duties - cont'd Support/Define usability studies for NPD
-Includes onsite support for Human Factors testing
-Assist with recruitment as needed
Communications and Content Development
-Participate and lead speaking commercial engagements on behalf of STERIS.
-Represent STERIS Reprocessing on standard committees such as AAMI.
-Develop templates and training materials to support capitol business cases for budgeting.
-Collaborate with R&D and Marketing to translate impact of standards on portfolio and future initiatives.
Education Degree Required Experience -15 years' experience in Healthcare Reprocessing and/or Project Management
-Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional projects or programs
-Ability to lead through ambiguity and inspire teams to follow in the face of change and innovation
-Familiarity with Lean-Agile principles and continuous improvement
-Champion of UX and human-centered thinking
-Experience with qualitative generative research, evaluative methodologies, and usability from concept formation through launch
-Experience conducting/moderating and planning one-on-ones, panels, and remote testing environments
-Ability to present insights in a compelling narrative and establish rapport with stakeholders as a Customer champion.
-Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices for UX design
Preferred Experience -Experienced with participation in professional associations -preferred
-Successfully manage multiple projects and teams
-Ability to develop, inspire and align teams located in hybrid and global locations including cross-functional teams.
