Who exactly are UPS Clerk/Temporary Cover Driver?

This team delivers on our promise to our customers in a number of ways.  First as a clerk, we support customers face to face while others work with them online or by phone. We also have clerks who work diligently behind the scenes to resolve potential issues to ensure packages make it to their destination. They are a diverse, collaborative, energetic team, and they enjoy fast-paced work.  

When needed, they’re the ones who drive our familiar brown trucks, bringing packages great and small to our customers. They’re a friendly, physically active crew who enjoy being outdoors, fast-paced work, and being behind the wheel!

While functioning as a Temporary Cover Driver you will be required to:

• Work 8 – 10 hours each day (Monday through Friday) or (Tuesday – Saturday)
• Have excellent customer contact and driving skills

While functioning as a Clerk you will:

• Typically work 3 ½ - 5 hours each day (Monday through Friday) or (Tuesday-Saturday)
• Be required to work your assigned shift (based on operational needs)

*UPS full-time small package delivery drivers receive an average total compensation package of $145,000 per year. That includes $0 healthcare premiums, up to seven weeks of paid vacation, plus paid time off for holidays, sick leave, and option days. UPS also makes contributions to a defined-benefit pension plan for each employee.

SHIFT YOUR SKILLS

So, what does it take to make it through a busy shift either loading/unloading boxes or delivering boxes of all shapes and sizes to homes and businesses in your community and beyond? Here are some examples:

• The ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Stamina – this is a workout like no other!
• Valid driver’s license—no CDL required (Type varies by State)
• Pass the DOT physical
• Excellent customer contact and driving skills
• Legal right to work in the U.S.
• Package Delivery Drivers are expected to comply with UPS appearance guidelines and wear the company-provided uniform

The base pay for this position is $23.00/hour
