D3 Search is actively recruiting a junior-level Litigation Paralegal for a highly respected CA-based law practice with its headquartered office situated in downtown Los Angeles, CA (90071).

Litigation Paralegal

• Important Note: 1-3 years' relevant law firm/litigation experience is REQUIRED.

Employment Status:

Full-time/direct hire employment opportunity. Non-exempt role (OT in accordance w/CA laws).

Employer Work Model:

Hybrid work model (3 onsite and 2 remote).

Summary:

Paralegal will support a team of lawyers in a vibrant, busy, and complex environment. Paralegal assists with a variety of tasks and responsibilities in the discovery and litigation process, including the day-to-day case management, preparing and monitoring calendar deadlines, and assisting with all aspects of pre-trial and trial preparation.

The successful paralegal candidate is professional and courteous with a positive can-do attitude, proactive self-starters with demonstrated experience managing multiple ongoing complex cases, and detail oriented with strong writing, proofreading, and communication skills. Candidate should be comfortable supervising trial teams with minimal guidance and supervision.

Position Functions:

• Performs trial preparation and provides trial support.
• Assists with fact research and deposition preparation.
• Proofreads and cite checks documents.
• Assists with court filings.
• Monitors and maintains multiple document repositories.
• Mentors and trains the litigation support clerks.
• Performs all aspects of discovery including responding to e-discovery responses and propounding discovery.
• Other tasks as needed and as assigned by supervisors, attorneys, or partners.

General Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience working in a complex civil litigation practice (preferably, but not required, experience in a trial boutique law firm representing high-profile clients).
• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate REQUIRED.
• Experience preparing for and attending trials/arbitrations/hearings.
• Experience coordinating trial/arbitration logistics, including negotiating for war room spaces, and coordinating with vendors.
• Experience utilizing applicable litigation support software (e.g. Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, Pacer, Case Notebook).
• Experience using e-discovery review platforms, particularly Relativity.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and all Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to travel to, and provide support at, off-site trials and arbitrations.
• Additional hours (including overtime) will be required on occasion.
• Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude and calm demeaner.
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills. Must effectively prioritize work/projects and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and accommodate rush requests.
• Motivated, self-directed individual with ability to anticipate and resolve issues and work with little to no supervision.
• Knowledge of state and federal court rules preferred.

Education/Certifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) & paralegal certificate is required. Not considering JDs.

Annual Salary/Compensation:

Salary is 80K .
