Southeastern Virginia Health System is seeking to fill a phlebotomy position in our Franklin Community Health Center office. Phlebotomist will draw blood for tests as ordered by the physicians. This is a full-time position - Monday to Thursdays 8am to 5:30 p.m. and Fridays 8am to 12pm. Offer a competitive hourly rate based upon experience.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and store blood samples from patients - pediatrics and adults
• Performs assigned lab tests as stated in procedures which includes the following In House labs: Hemoglobin, Urine Dip, Urine HcG, Strep A, Rapid HIV, Glucometer, Hemoglobin A1C.
• Documents all results of in-house labs in the electronic medical records system
• Process lab specimens to be sent to outside reference labs
• Reconcile all lab reports on a daily basis
• Performs quarterly proficiency testing; maintains proper documentation, processing and reporting of testing.
• Reports abnormal results to providers in a timely fashion.
• Performs controls on all in-house tests; Keeps accurate parallel testing logs for In house tests.
• Monitor storage and inventory of supplies
• Maintain clean and healthy work environment
• Adhere to laboratory safety policies and procedures
• Assist in the recovery of patients with adverse reactions

​ Qualifications:

• Previous experience in phlebotomy, nursing, or other related fields
• Ability to build rapport with patients
• Familiarity with medical software and equipment
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to collect samples from all ages (both pediatrics and adults)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
