Description
The League's Veterinary Hospital team members work at our new CSU Spur (North Denver) location. This hospital provides access to high quality veterinary urgent care for under-served populations in our community. This position plays a critical role in helping to prevent and alleviate suffering of animals in our community, maximize our impact, enhance the dignity of our clients, and work collaboratively with the veterinary community.
Purpose of Position: The Practice Manager is responsible for all aspects of non-clinical daily operations within the Veterinary Hospital. This position works directly with underserved community members and their pets to provide high quality, affordable veterinary care.
Responsibilities - Ensure patron and audience experiences at the Veterinary Hospital reflect the League's brand, compassion always.
- Monitor hospital capacity, continuously assessing community needs and striving to meet those needs.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, including statistical analysis, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking, report creation and presentation, and recommend improvements.
- In collaboration with site leadership, develops execution plans in support of departmental goals, and supports implementation with team.
- Collaborate with Associate Manager and Team Leaders to ensure the team is working efficiently and delivering a high standard of care for pets and patrons.
- Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
- Provide exceptional customer service, effectively resolve client conflicts in high stress situations, while remaining compassionate and adapting to individual client and patient needs.
- In partnership with the Veterinary Training Specialist and Human Resource team, create, implement and monitor a training program for all team members that focuses on skill development and career advancement.
- Oversee hospital inventory; manage utilization of department resources to maximize the value, control expenses, and minimize waste.
- Manage the financial functions of the hospital, including accounts payable, payroll, daily deposits, and patron payment plans; also serve as the primary resource for the finance department as needed.
- Monitor hospital budget, including but not limited to reviewing monthly expenses ensuring expenditures stay within the operating budget and explain variances as needed.
- Lead regular and effective meetings and communications with the staff team to share important information and updates, address concerns, celebrate accomplishments, and foster teamwork and collaboration.
- Advanced management of practice management integrated software (PMIS) and integrated functions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on safety for the location, responsible for understanding and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DEA and FDA, and applicable state and local agencies.
- Follow protocols for equipment and facility maintenance. Partner with facilities team regarding repair and maintenance of equipment and building.
- Collaborate with other department and organizational leaders in creating organizational alignment and partnership, executing upon organizational initiatives, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring alignment with core values, vision, mission and the strategic plan.
- Manage vendor and other relationships with the community.
- Represents the organization internally and externally with integrity, serving as an ambassador of the League's mission and brand.
- Ensure staff effectively communicate with various audiences about veterinary work being done in real time, in an on-view setting and with an emphasis on education.
- Work in partnership with CSU education facilitator to assure accuracy of content.
- Oversee technical aspects of equipment needed to fulfill educational partnership with CSU and alert management to issues as needed.

Compensation: $61,000 - $75,000 annually (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements Potentially prolonged periods of sitting and repetitive motion. May work in an area with high noise level. Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Frequent standing, stooping and bending and lifting up to 40 lbs. with reasonable accommodation.

Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Demonstrated success in customer service
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office required
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated capability to organize work efficiently, set priorities, and establish plans or timetables for achieving goals
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a leader capable of influencing and motivating others to success toward a common goal
Required - Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience: Three years of veterinary practice management experience
Preferred - Experience working with volunteers and the public
- Experience working as a Veterinary Technician
- Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM)
- Bilingual speaking both English and Spanish
