Position Overview:

H&P is representing a growing private equity firm focused on investments in the healthcare, business services, consumer, and industrials sectors. They are seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Associate to join their Chicago team. The firm is currently raising its second and largest fund to date, positioning itself for an exciting phase of growth. This role will offer significant exposure to the investment process, with direct involvement in deal sourcing, due diligence, execution, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial analysis, deal structuring, and sector-specific expertise in healthcare, business services, consumer, or industrials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investment Sourcing and Origination: Assist in identifying new investment opportunities within healthcare, business services, consumer, and industrials sectors by leveraging industry contacts, market research, and relationships with intermediaries. Actively contribute to the pipeline of potential transactions.
• Financial Modeling and Due Diligence: Lead the development of detailed financial models and valuations for potential investments. Conduct rigorous due diligence, including evaluating financial statements, assessing operational performance, and identifying risks and value creation opportunities.
• Investment Committee Presentations: Prepare comprehensive investment memos, including financial analysis, industry trends, risk assessments, and strategic opportunities. Present investment recommendations to senior team members and the investment committee.
• Transaction Execution: Collaborate with senior team members on structuring and negotiating deals, conducting legal and financial reviews, and managing all stages of the transaction process through to closing.
• Sector Expertise and Market Analysis: Use deep sector knowledge to evaluate market trends, competitive landscapes, and growth drivers within the firm’s focus industries (healthcare, business services, consumer, and industrials). Support the development of strategic investment theses.
• Portfolio Management and Value Creation: Work closely with portfolio company management teams to support operational improvements, implement growth strategies, and monitor financial performance. Contribute to strategic decisions that drive value creation and enhance performance.
• Mentorship and Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior associates and analysts, helping them develop skills in financial modeling, due diligence, and deal execution.
• Fundraising Support: Support the fundraising process for the firm’s second fund by contributing to pitch materials, investor presentations, and assisting in building relationships with potential limited partners.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally split between private equity and investment banking, with exposure to the healthcare, business services, consumer, or industrials sectors.

Skills:

• Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, with the ability to assess complex financial statements and investment opportunities.
• Experience in conducting thorough due diligence and transaction execution.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present investment opportunities and insights clearly to senior team members and external stakeholders.
• In-depth knowledge of one or more of the firm’s target sectors (healthcare, business services, consumer, or industrials).
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision making.
• Team-oriented with a collaborative, results-driven approach.

Preferred Attributes:

• Prior experience in middle-market private equity or a related investment environment with a focus on healthcare, business services, consumer, or industrials.
• Knowledge of the unique dynamics and investment opportunities in the healthcare, business services, consumer, and industrials sectors.
• Established network within target industries (healthcare, business services, consumer, industrials) or investment community.
• Entrepreneurial, self-starter attitude, with a passion for working in a high-growth, dynamic environment.
