Position Summary
The
Product Owner II (PO II) serves as a liaison between our customers, business units and Tech to define and prioritize work for development teams by aligning features and user stories with business value. The product owner is the voice of the customer, stakeholder, and end user. The product owner works closely with developers and analysts to create executable stories and provides final approval that ensures delivered stories meet user acceptance criteria. This individual is responsible for building and maintaining a prioritized Product Backlog, based on stakeholder feedback. They are also responsible for participating in the development and execution of the product roadmap. Product Owners will participate in all scrum ceremonies.
The
Product Owner II is a trusted partner and builds strong relationships with all stakeholders. They should be contributing participants in the Product Owner Community of Practices. They should be actively mentoring others. The
PO II has an advanced understanding of Agile and is actively implementing it within their team. Typically, a Product Owner II will be able to independently support multiple scrum teams.

Primary Qualifications
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of team members, including executives, managers, IT professionals, and subject matter experts.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical or business experience.
- Experience in Agile product ownership, software development, Scrum, and phases of the project life cycle.
- Ability to translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications that can be used for development and break down technical complexities so that they can be easily understood by business units and end users
- Build and maintain the Product Backlog of user stories (detailed requirements) and defects. Partner with product stakeholders and business leaders to prioritize user stories. Ensure product status is communicated.
Desired Skills
- Experience working with corporate systems such as those supporting Accounting, Finance, Internal Audit, Communications, Facilities, Legal, etc.
- The ability to help create processes related to intake, prioritization, and delivery within a new and growing team
- Strong ability to work effectively within time constraints, changing priorities, and independently.
- Ability to conduct multiple complex tasks simultaneously
- Ability to develop and articulate a product vision that supports outcomes, value, and prioritization of work
- Experience in project management, group facilitation, data gathering, and phases of software life cycle (requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, training, and measuring effectiveness.)
- Ability to translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications that can be used for development and break down technical complexities so that they can be easily understood by business units and end users.
- Experience in JIRA and Agile Methodology preferred, but not required
- Product Ownership/Business Analysis experience
- Good negotiation skills and be comfortable saying no in a manner that is well received by others.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
- Standard industry certifications such as CSPO or PSPO, preferred
- Deep understanding of product vision and articulate that vision to the development teams
