Summary:

Our client, a well-established manufacturer specializing in advanced materials and protective solutions, is seeking an R&D Chemist to join its team in High Point, NC. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 3+ years of experience in manufacturing , particularly in rubber or plastics , who thrives in a lab environment and enjoys hands-on product development.

About the Role:

As an R&D Chemist, you’ll play a key role in developing and testing chemical formulations for industrial products. You’ll work closely with the R&D Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous innovation.

Location: High Point, NC (100% onsite)

Job Type: Direct-Hire

Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000

Responsibilities:

• Conduct lab trials and develop prototypes for coating formulations
• Analyze raw materials and source new vendors
• Perform quality control tests on finished products (abrasion, resistance, wash tests, sizing, defect checks)
• Maintain documentation for certifications and compliance
• Troubleshoot chemical and production issues
• Prepare chemical compounds and maintain lab equipment to GMP/GLP standards
• Support internal teams with training on lab procedures and technologies
• Collaborate with production and customer service teams to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Chemical Engineering Technology or related field (polymer technology/engineering preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing , ideally in rubber or plastics
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Excel Macros is a plus
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with lab and manufacturing equipment
• Valid passport; occasional travel may be required
