The Clasen lab in the Department of Microbiology at UTK is seeking a research assistant.
The lab studies the relationship between the host immune system and the commensal microbes that colonize the intestinal tract. We seek to understand how the host tolerates these organisms and what conditions cause it to generate an adaptive immune response. To address these questions, we employ a combination of techniques in molecular biology and immunology, next generation sequencing, and in vitro and in vivo models.
This position is well-suited for an individual with strong communication and organizational skills who enjoys working in a team environment. While the Clasen Lab will provide training and mentorship, experience in mouse husbandry and/or immunology are highly desired .
