Basic Job Functions: The role of the Safety Paramedic & EMT Trainer is to provide leadership and support to the safety and health functions across the division. This person will conduct monthly in-service training for our onsite EMTs and First Repsoneders and ensure compliance for our onsite industrial ambulance services. The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Growing long term sustainable relationships to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, and safety systems.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement strategies and plans to support Nucor’s challenge of “becoming the world’s safest steel company”
  • Interpret and apply regulatory consensus standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
  • Build and facilitate effective safety and health processes, management systems, and training that drives hazard recognition and prevention
  • Conduct safety visits, audits, and observations
  • Oversee and coordinate training and support for the Emergency Response Team
  • Perform routine and non-routine administrative tasks. This includes but is not limited to inspections, record keeping and various onsite testing.
The candidate must be willing to work required hours, including flexibility for non-daylight shifts, and to be on-call in emergency situations 24/7. This candidate must be willing to travel for safety meetings, audits, and best-marking. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • National Registered EMT – Paramedic Level
  • Safety related experiencePreferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge and experience in worker’s compensation
  • Prior Safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and experience with VPP
