Job Description
The Senior Paralegal will support the company. Individual must have legal contract expertise in the consumer food products industry, and must possess strong skills in analyzing, drafting, and negotiating agreements such as manufacturing, confidentiality, & other standard agreements in the food manufacturing industry. Individual will also provide guidance and strategic support the Company on a wide variety of business & legal issues which arise from day-to-day operations, play a key role in helping to mitigate risk, drive efficient commercial processes, prepare agreements, and protect the interests of the Company.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a variety of agreements, including confidentiality/non-disclosure, consumer food manufacturing agreements; master service agreements with outside vendors, distributor, and other standard business agreements.
- Work with key internal and external business partners as necessary to gather facts and information, assess legal risks, and provide advice to protect the Company.
- Provide education and training to internal business partners to ensure awareness and to help manage legal risks.
- Support the Company in various legal duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, and a minimum 10 years of paralegal experience in-house with a consumer food product company or food product manufacturer, or with a law firm focused on providing legal services to clients in the consumer food manufacturing or consumer food products industries, with specialized experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of food industry specific contracts.
- Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, tact, diplomacy and a high level of professionalism in order to interface with outside and opposing counsel, various business teams within the Company across all levels of management.
- Must possess sound decision-making skills as well as excellent organizational and analytical skills and the ability to handle tense situations head-on.
- Must have negotiation skills to directly engage in contract negotiations and ensure the Company's interests are protected and represented.
- Excellent oral communication skills are required to effectively interact with both internal and external contacts, coordinate legal activities, and advise on legal matters.
- Strong written communication skills required to draft documents, make recommendations and communicate with both internal and external customers.
- Preferred but not required: solid foundation in IP law.
- The ability to multi-task and a sense of urgency and timeliness is required.
