St. Pius X High School is seeking a talented and knowledgeable high school History teacher. Position: History Teacher (2024/2025)
Description:
- Full time: (10 months) School Year per contract
- Reports to Dean of Academics
- Schedule: 7:30 AM 3:30 PM, Monday Friday, plus scheduled events

Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach History courses in a Catholic college preparatory environment
- Serve as an advisor for approximately 8-10 students
- Additional duties may include a section of study hall and/or a section of substitute coverage
- Actively pursue professional growth and continually strive to improve curriculum and instruction
- Collaborate and coordinate closely with grade-level, department, and course teams
- Willingly take on responsibility above and beyond classroom duties; contribute to the life of the school by sponsoring a co-curricular activity or coaching a sport
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
- Possess highly effective classroom management and time management skills
- Embrace classroom technology and use it as a tool for learning
- Create and timely post robust plans which align with curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and integrate technology into the curriculum
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely fashion and update systems accordingly
- Work collaboratively with Department Chair, department members, Dean of Academics, and Principal to build curriculum, create assessments, review best practices, and create clear daily goals for academic instruction
- Evaluate student progress effectively, keeping records and reports required by the School
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Department Chair, Dean of Academics, Principal, and/or Head of School
Required Qualifications:
- Commitment to embrace the Mission of St. Pius X High School
- Bachelor's degree in related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 24 hours of college level history courses
- Teaching certificate or twelve credit hours in education courses
- Prior secondary teaching experience preferred; AP instruction experience a plus
