Station/Company: KOIN TV Location: Portland Hours: Full Time Job Summary Position/Title: Sports Anchor KOIN 6 TV/Portland’s CW, a Nexstar Media Inc. owned CBS and CW duopoly in Portland, Oregon is looking for a Full‑Time Sports Anchor to join our growing news team. We want a high‑energy, engaging talent who can handle a fast‑paced environment. JOB SUMMARY: Deliver sports news and stories accurately, clearly and concisely and in an engaging manner across broadcast and multiple digital platforms. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Anchor main sportscasts and host a weekly sports show Contribute daily content for shows on our streaming platform, KOIN+ Drive digital engagement by posting relevant local sports stories on our website and social media Evaluate sports leads and tips to develop story ideas Gather and verify accurate information for stories through interviews and research Build a network of sources that provides timely information Present compelling, clear, creative and accurate live shots Organize material and write articles based on the details and information obtained Requirements Demonstrated record of leadership and team‑building Solid vocal delivery, camera presence and clear enunciation Strong reporting skills Understanding of digital and social media importance Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills Promotes teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism or related field required (equivalent years of experience may substitute for education). Three years of television anchoring or reporting experience preferred. Training / Equipment Operate newsroom computer systems. Work Environment & Physical Requirements High‑stress environment with deadline pressures and breaking‑news demands. Requires day‑to‑day multitasking, handling multiple projects with frequent change in direction and priority. Travel may be required. Work may be performed in extreme outdoor temperatures. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required. Must be willing to work any shift, including overnights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
