Sr. Corporate & Trade Communications Manager

VisitPITTSBURGH is a tourism development organization dedicated to expanding the tourism economy across Allegheny County. The organization generates positive economic impact across the tourism verticals of business events, sports, and leisure travel. VisitPITTSBURGH achieves its goals, including ensuring the region of certain economic benefits, through the combined efforts of all team members throughout the organization.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications & Public Affairs, the Corporate & Trade Communications Manager will help develop and implement communications strategies tailored to corporate, trade, and local media audiences.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as communications project manager to support Sports and Business Event verticals through strategic message development, presentations, case studies, talking points, press releases, pitches, and other communications-related activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade media to position Pittsburgh as a top destination for sports and business events, while leveraging local outlets to showcase the impacts of these events on the region’s economy.
  • Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media events.
  • Monitor and report on media coverage and industry trends to provide actionable insights and key takeaways to inform future strategies.
  • Collaborate across the organization to drive publicity for Pittsburgh, including supporting press trips, calls for submission, and media events.
  • Work within VisitPITTSBURGH’s image database to build digital media kits to support press releases, events, and announcements.
  • Maintain and grow VisitPITTSBURGH’s media lists specific to local outlets and trade publications.
  • Assist with executive and corporate communications, such as newsletters, letters of support, and media inquiries. Ensure brand integrity is maintained across all communications channels.
  • Support communications-related activities for key annual and upcoming events and attend special events and functions when needed.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Sr Director Communications & Public Affairs.

Skills & Specifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience within the field of communications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or another relevant field
  • Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of corporate communications, conventions, and/or sports events
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools, media databases, and project management software
  • Proven experience in media relations, within the local Pittsburgh market, and/or trade media preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Travel of approximately 10% local and 10% outside of Allegheny County is required. Credentials necessary to fly both domestically (U.S.) and internationally are required.
  • Work outside of standard business hours as necessary
  • Must possess a valid PA Driver’s License.

This role is exempt and operates under a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of 3 days in-office required.
