Job Description

• Perform repetitive flat or edge grinding operations on a variety of parts composed mainly of regular and stainless steel. Set-ups not difficult, involving the use of magnetic chuck for holding the work. Balance wheel and mount it on a spindle. Tolerance on sizes, parallelism and squareness are close, generally the print specification allows .002 to .003 tolerances, but not difficult to maintain. Some grinding specifications require the tolerance to be within .0001 to .0002, requiring very precise and demanding attention. The parts must have a good finish, no burn or chatter marks. Check the work using a micrometer, depth or fixed gages. Dress wheel for flat or face grinding.

• Normally operate one machine. Operations are performed with the use of coolant. Detect faulty operation or defective material and refer unusual conditions to supervisor.

• Perform all duties in conformance with all safety and health requirements. Perform all other selected duties required or requested. Maintain the machine as necessary by changing the coolant, cleaning, oiling and greasing, etc. Keep the work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
