Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a warm, friendly and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our amazing team at Oyster Bay Animal Hospital (OBAH). The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and excellent customer service skills.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:

• Provide friendly, quality customer care to patients and clients
• Assist with animal handling and restraint
• Determine the status of the patient's immunizations and tests
• Greet clients and their pets and set them up for examinations
• Assist in cleanliness and maintenance of the hospital to ensure a great client experience.
• Accurately input data into computer software
• Some reception work including but not limited to answering phones, responding to emails, responding to text messages, scheduling appointments, checking clients out, confirming appointments and obtaining all necessary medical history
• Making outbound calls to schedule appointments for pets that are past due for services
• Understand common vaccination protocols, basic lab tests, common diseases, veterinary terminology and pet behavior
• Fill prescriptions, food requests, and over-the-counter products as instructed by a veterinarian

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

• High school diploma or greater
• Weekend availability
• Ability to lift 30-50 pounds

Oyster Bay Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital in Oyster Bay, New York, serving the pets of Oyster Bay and the surrounding towns on Long Island. We care for small animalsincluding dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and chinchillas. We provide a variety of services including wellness exams and vaccinations, pet dental care, puppy and kitten care, senior pet care, and nutritional counseling. Our animal hospital also offers advanced internal medicine, diagnostic services, and surgical care.
