Weekly Pay Rate: $19 - $22/HR
The School Aide/CNA is an individual who works with students requiring instructional, personal care and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows through with IEP objectives including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and manages behavioral deficits and excesses one on one or as a general classroom aide
Facilitates teacher directed learning activities including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance
Supports students when included into general education classes
Communicates pertinent information to teachers
Accompanies students during recess and lunch periods, along with community experiences
Adheres to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, parent communications, and/or classroom activities. (Note: Unless instructed otherwise by supervising teacher, all parent communication is the responsibility of certified personnel)
Assists with activities of prescribed programs including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT and SLP
Aids students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines and personal hygiene
Provides personal care assistance with health care tasks, personal hygiene services, feeding and other related support services essential to the client's health
May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional (i.e. BCBA, Psychologist, etc.)
Supports teacher with clerical duties including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring
Minimum Requirements:
Current Certified Nursing Assistant required by state/contract/or client
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
