Position Description
The Department of Biological Sciences in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is a vibrant community of researchers and educators that places high value on the effective training of students. It seeks to recruit a full-time (9-month appointment) non-tenure system faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction to teach graduate biotechnology laboratory and related courses. Ideal applicants are educators dedicated to the achievement of all students and trainees in classrooms as well as laboratories.
A successful candidate will find a highly engaging and collaborative intellectual environment at UT Dallas. Courses may be taught in multiple sections, so excellent team-working and communication skills are essential. The candidate should aid in building curriculum and course content geared towards an active learning environment. We are especially interested in educators who are interested in developing course-based research experiences for our master's students.
The appointment commences for the Fall 2024 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: Master's degree in a relevant discipline in the Biological Sciences. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We seek candidates who will deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience: PhD in a relevant discipline in the Biological Sciences with experience as a Teaching Assistant or Instructor in graduate-level laboratory sessions and/or lectures.
