Position Overview:

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt is seeking a full-time, Legal Assistant‎ in our Portland office. Schwabe has a hybrid work policy allowing employees to work from home Monday and Friday while working in the office Tuesday through Thursday‎.

The Legal Assistant is responsible for delivering high-level legal and administrative support to lawyers in the employment practice (including ‎litigation and advice and counseling) area‎. ‎

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and submit filings to the Oregon Bureau of Labor & Industries (BOLI) and the Equal ‎Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).‎
  • Provide high-level legal administrative support to lawyers and paralegals, with a strong focus on ‎document ‎‎editing, formatting, and proofreading to ensure accuracy, consistency, and ‎compliance with ‎court and firm ‎standards.‎
  • File court-compliant documents electronically in state courts, federal ‎courts, ‎and appellate courts.‎
  • Verify legal citations and references using proper citation tools and techniques for filings ‎and legal ‎‎correspondence‎.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic files, and assist with file management and ‎matter opening and ‎‎closing procedures in accordance with firm policies.‎
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all communications and ‎documentation.‎

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be used to ‎satisfy these requirements‎.
  • Strong litigation knowledge and experience.‎
  • Experience with e-filing in Oregon and Washington state, federal, and appellate courts.‎
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.‎
