Job Description
The Heavy Machinery Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy construction equipment used in excavation and site work. This role ensures all machines operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to minimize downtime and support project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
· Fleet Maintenance: Manage the service and repair of our primary earthmoving fleet, including 50- ton excavators, backhoes, large bulldozers, and articulated haul trucks. Main equipment brands: CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Kubota, etc.
· Preventive Maintenance: Oil, filters, tracks, deep tissue repairs, etc.
· Specialized Systems: Diagnose and repair specialized equipment technologies, including GPS-integrated modeling systems used for precision grading.
· Hydraulics & Engines: Perform major and minor repairs on diesel engines and high-pressure hydraulic systems (pumps, cylinders, and hoses) common in heavy excavation equipment.
· Field Support: Provide rapid-response field service to job sites across DFW Metroplex and other areas to minimize downtime during critical excavation phases.
· Safety & Compliance: Conduct thorough safety inspections to meet Texas standards and ensure all equipment operating on residential and commercial sites is fully compliant.
Requirements & Qualifications
· Experience: 3+ years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, specifically working with brands like Komatsu, John Deere, CAT, Kubota.
· Excavation Expertise: Strong understanding of the wear-and-tear unique to excavation (undercarriage maintenance, bucket teeth replacement, and hydraulic stress).
· Technical Skills: Proficiency with digital diagnostic tools and the ability to interpret electrical/hydraulic schematics.
· Driver’s License: Valid Texas Driver’s License
· Physical Stamina: Ability to work in the North Texas heat, lift up to 75 lbs, and perform repairs in field conditions.
