Metal Finisher

Position Summary:

The Metal Finisher is responsible for preparing, refining, and completing metal surfaces to meet precise technical and visual standards. This role demands craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and execute finishing specifications across various metal types and product applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation: Perform grinding, sanding, deburring, and polishing to eliminate imperfections and prepare surfaces for final finishing.

Technical Finish Execution: Apply specific grain directions, polish levels, or coatings to meet engineering or customer-defined standards.

Inspection & Quality Control: Conduct visual and tactile inspections to ensure surfaces are defect-free and meet dimensional and aesthetic requirements.

Tool Operation: Operate hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment such as buffers, tumblers, grinders, and electroplating tanks with precision.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of finishing processes, materials used, and quality checks.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including PPE usage, chemical handling, and equipment maintenance.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and finish specifications.
• Execute finishes that comply with internal, NADCAP, or customer-specific standards.
• Maintain consistency in cosmetic finishes across batches, including stainless steel blending and directional grain matching.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience required; vocational training in metalworking preferred.
• 1–8+ years of experience depending on tier level (I–III).
• Familiarity with finishing standards in aerospace, medical, or industrial applications is a plus.
• Certifications in metal finishing or OSHA safety are advantageous.

Examples of Relevant Experience:

• Automotive Detailing : Experience in automotive detailing, particularly in buffing and polishing, is highly regarded.
• TIG Welding Stainless Steel : Candidates with TIG welding experience in stainless steel are likely to have the necessary skills for cleaning and finishing welds to a high standard.
