Job Summary


The Eiler Group within the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences (GPS) is searching for a temporary Research Staff to perform numerical modeling of intra- and intermolecular isotopic effects in organic compounds, including the application of computational and machine learning approaches to high-dimensional isotomics. The candidate will participate virtually in group meetings as appropriate and contribute to the writing of manuscripts for publication.


Essential Job Duties

• Model isotopic fractionation in the C-H system relevant to surface-atmosphere interactions on Titan.
• Develop computational and machine-learning approaches to investigate high-dimensionality isotopic properties in small organic molecules.
• Lead the writing of manuscripts for publication in relevant peer-reviewed journals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Geochemistry, or a related field.
• Independent research experience in the physical sciences.
• Experience with isotopic box modeling, numerical simulations, and statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms.
• Knowledge of organic chemistry, stable isotope geochemistry, linear algebra, and machine-learning algorithms.
• Ability to work independently.
• Effective communication of scientific and technical results.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of post-Ph.D. work experience.
• Knowledge of intramolecular isotope geochemistry, mathematics through differential equations, and computational implementation.
